The hit queer Netflix show will give fans a final goodbye with a movie

Netflix has confirmed that Heartstopper will end not with a fourth season, but with a feature-length film, giving fans one final, emotional goodbye to Nick, Charlie and the rest of the amazing queer characters. The announcement, made on the show’s third anniversary (22 April), marks a major shift – and a bittersweet one – for the beloved LGBTQIA series.
Alice Oseman, creator of the graphic novels and writer of the show, confirmed the news on their Instagram with pure excitement: “Let’s CELEBRATE! Heartstopper is getting its ending!!!!!!” The film will be based on Heartstopper Volume 6 and the Nick and Charlie novella, giving the beloved couple’s journey a proper and emotional send-off.
Production is set to begin in the summer, with a release date yet to be confirmed. The film will premiere exclusively on Netflix, offering a conclusion to the series.
Since its debut, Heartstopper has earned widespread acclaim for its sensitive, honest queer storylines told through a group of school friends exploring their sexualities and relationships for the first time. For many LGBTQ+ viewers, especially younger audiences, it has been a beacon of hope and affirmation.
