Sapphics, try to remain calm! Lucy Dacus and MUNA’s Katie Gavin have just recreated that iconic 1993 Vanity Fair cover with k.d. lang and Cindy Crawford. Yep, we’re totally not crushing hard or anything…

In an exclusive video interview for Alternative Press, the pair celebrated the release of Lucy’s latest album Forever Is A Feeling and the upcoming tour which Katie will also be on. As you can imagine, the interview is full of giggles, shared memories and complex conversations about their incredible discographies.

Sapphic fans went into a frenzy in 2023 when boygenius, made up of Lucy, Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, went on tour with MUNA. In this latest interview, Katie and Lucy discuss going back on tour together and Lucy’s new record.

“It’s my favorite record of yours. I think it’s your best one yet,” Katie told the Night Shift singer to which Lucy responded, “I think it’s my best one.”

“You’re good at love. You’re good at love songs as well,” Katie also said to Lucy. The interview followed just weeks after Lucy and bandmate Julien Baker announced that they were very much in love.

Whether it be Katie casually dropping in comments about her relationship with MUNA bandmate Naomi McPherson or Lucy mentioning that her longest relationship was seven years long, it didn’t take long for fans to react to this very special interview.

Many were quick to become enamoured with the cover shoot itself, recreating one of the most iconic photoshoots in lesbian culture. The 1993 cover shoot saw Cindy Crawford shaving a very dapper-looking k.d. lang, providing powerful representation for the butch community.

Responding to Lucy and Katie’s recreation of this iconic photo, fans celebrated the legacy of the image itself. “Vintage Queer with modern queers – omg everything,” one user commented

k.d.lang also reposted the image to her story with a number of praising emojis, so we think she liked it too.
