We believed and it happened – Ted Lasso is back for a fourth season! The third season of this football comedy, which introduced a sapphic romance, aired two years ago but a fourth has finally been confirmed, with a major change… the show will focus on a women’s football team.

The fish-out-of-water comedy saw Jason Sudeikis’ American Football coach, Ted Lasso, move to Richmond to coach a struggling football team. Over three seasons, he taught the players at AFC Richmond how to be the best versions of themselves and improve as a team in the process.

Not only did the show include several incredible LGBTQIA allies such as Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple, but its third season included a sapphic storyline. When PR Manager Keeley meets Danish millionaire Jack, played by Jodi Balfour, the two have undeniable chemistry, which soon turns into a romance, confirming Keeley’s bisexuality.

There’s not a lot of information about the fourth season yet. As Keeley and Jack’s relationship ended badly last season, it’s looking unlikely that Jodi will return. But with a women’s football team as the focus of the next season, we’re sure it will include more sapphic characters and storylines.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said: “Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fan base all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief.”
