Attention LGBTQIA daters! Hinge just launched a feature which is about to make your love life a whole lot easier. Introducing their industry-first feature Match Note, the dating app will now allow users to share personal information about themselves with matches before starting a conversation.
If you’re tired of sharing the same private details – such as your boundaries with intimacy or relationship preferences – you may want to check this out. Using data from underrepresented groups such as LGBTQIA and neurodivergent daters, Hinge’s new feature aims to help people to be their authentic selves online.
So how does it work? Daters can add a Match Note to their profile where they can express anything they would want a potential partner to know, but something they might not feel comfortable having on their profile visible to everyone. This information will only pop up when two people like each other.

During their testing phase, 70% of Hinge users felt that the feature helped their ability to determine compatibility with matches. Specifically, the trans+ community found that Match Note helped them to show up authentically on their profiles, with 83% saying that it allowed them to express their true selves.
Allowing space for LGBTQIA daters to provide more information about their gender identity, accessibility needs, sobriety, and family plans, Match Note is just another example of how Hinge is supporting queer users.

Jackie Jantos, Chief Marketing Officer at Hinge, said: “Hinge aims to empower all daters to express themselves authentically, so creating an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and identities is incredibly important to us. We look to our users and community experts to understand how Hinge can better support their unique needs. Match Note serves an important role for people from underrepresented groups while giving all daters on Hinge a new way to connect more intentionally with each other.”
