Euphoria star Hunter Schafer has revealed that her newly issued passport has listed her gender marker as āMā under Trumpās administration.Ā
Speaking to fans in a TikTok video, Hunter spoke out about this experience, noting that it had been a āharsh reality checkā. She went on to say that all her government-issued IDs had listed her as female since she was a teenager.
Following Trumpās executive order which declared that the US would only recognise the two sexes ā male and female ā assigned at birth, Hunter shared that this new passport made her realise that Trumpās anti-trans rhetoric was not ājust talkā.
āI was like, āIāll believe it when I see it,ā and today, I saw it on my new passport. I was shocked because I didnāt think it was actually going to happen,ā she said.
She continued: āI wanna acknowledge my privilege as a celebrity trans woman who is white and thin and can adhere to contemporary beauty standards ā and it still happened.ā
This is not the only executive order that Trump has pushed forward which impacts trans people in the US. He also signed several others which limited trans girls and women from participating in womenās sports, banned trans people from serving in the military, and placed restrictions on gender affirming healthcare.
Despite the shock of seeing the gender marker on her passport changed, Hunter gave fans a small dose of hope. āI donāt give a f*** that they put an M on my passport. It doesnāt change really anything about me or my transness. However, it does make life a little harder.ā
āTrans people are beautiful. We are never going to stop existing. Iām never gonna stop being trans. A letter and a passport canāt change that. And f*** this administration.ā
Trumpās executive order regarding government-issued documents has also revoked the possibility for people to use āXā as their gender marker. The executive order states: āWe will only issue passports with an M or F sex marker that match the customer’s biological sex at birth.”
