The biggest night for the British film industry happened last night, as stars from around the world gathered at the Royal Festival Hall for the BAFTAs. There were a few wins for queer films. Wicked received some in the technical categories and Emilia Pérez nabbed a few, including a Best Supporting Actress award for Zoe Saldaña.

But for many, the highlight of the night is not the awards themselves but watching their favourite celebs strut the red carpet in a fabulous outfit. The LGBTQIA community and allies did not disappoint. So, here are the best dressed LGBTQIA celebs and allies at this year’s awards…

Best dressed LGBTQIA celebs

Surprisingly, there were not many LGBTQIA people in attendance at the BAFTAs this year. Nosferatu’s Emma Corrin and Lily-Rose Depp seemed to be missing from the ceremony, despite their film being nominated for five awards. But those in attendance were dressed immaculately. Here is our favourite…

Cynthia Erivo

The actor was nominated for playing Elphaba in Wicked but ditched her usual black and green for a white lace number.

Best dressed allies

Here are some of the best dressed celebs who have brought us fabulous queer media and stood up for LGBTQIA rights.

Selena Gomez

The actor brought beads and velvet to the red carpet, just like she brought bi icon Mabel to the screen in Only Murders In The Building.

Ariana Grande

The Wicked star was also decked out in black velvet, but paired it with pink ruffles, as an homage to Glinda.

David Tennant

This year’s host has often stood up for trans rights. He wore multiple outfits throughout the night, but our favourite might be the kilt, which matched his newly dyed burgundy hair.

Marisa Abela

The Back To Black star took inspiration from the film’s title and turned up in all black. She was nominated for the Rising Star award for her role as bisexual singer Amy Winehouse.

Hannah Dodd

The actor’s Bridgerton character, Francesca, may have a sapphic storyline soon!
