Global superstar Mariah Carey is set to headline the main stage at Brighton’s Pride On The Park in August. The pop icon was supposed to perform at Brighton Pride in 2020 but, due to the pandemic, was unable to. Five years later, she is making a hotly anticipated return.
The performance at Pride On The Park will be Mariah’s first show in six years. She is set to perform a number of her greatest hits, including Fantasy, Hero, Always Be My Baby and We Belong Together. She will take to the main stage on Saturday 2 August.
Mariah has been ranked as one of the greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone and is beloved by the LGBTQIA community. The star has duetted with the likes of Whitney Houston and amassed almost 20 number one singles. With her at the helm, this year’s Pride On The Park is set to be the biggest yet, which is fitting, given it is the UK’s biggest Pride event.
Managing Director Paul Kemp said: “We are beyond thrilled to have the global icon Mariah Carey headline Pride on the Park this year. We were so excited to have her join us in 2020 and absolutely gutted the show couldn’t go ahead due to pandemic restrictions that summer. Pride is always an amazing weekend of celebration and inclusiveness of our city, and this year is going to be incredibly momentous.”
Also returning is the much-loved LGBTQIA Community Parade, which will kickstart the weekend and introduce this year’s theme, Ravishing Rage. The theme is a celebration of resilience, spirit, passion and unity. The parade will wind through the city of Brighton & Hove and showcase over 100 LGBTQIA charities, community groups and other organisations.
