Dating app Hinge has launched a revolutionary new feature that will help daters to express their personalities on the app. Their first-of-its-kind Prompt Feedback feature will use AI to help daters improve their Prompt responses, helping them to get the most out of their profile.

In 2024, Hinge found that likes on Prompts were 47% more likely to lead to a date than just a like on a photo. However, over 60% of Hinge users admitted that they didn’t know what to include on their profile. The result? Daters would often use generic or cliched answers which didn’t give a sense of their true self.

This is where AI comes in. This new feature will use insights guided by Hinge’s team of behavioural scientists to evaluate a dater’s Prompt answers and generate feedback. While this new feature will not tell you exactly what to say, it can help nudge daters in the right direction.

Justin McLeod, Founder and CEO of Hinge, said: “Hinge’s mission has always been to help people find meaningful connections and get off the app. With Prompt Feedback, we’re intentionally leveraging AI to provide personalized coaching during a key moment for daters – making a great first impression on their profiles. For years, our research team has identified what helps people discover compatibility that leads to dates, and now daters can apply these insights through specific, tailored advice.”

Logan Ury, Director of Relationship Science at Hinge, added: “We’re all familiar with dating app clichés like ‘pineapple on pizza’ or being ‘overly competitive about… everything.’ While these responses are common, they often fall short in showcasing the individuality and creativity that ignite meaningful conversations. By crafting Prompt responses that highlight your unique quirks and share authentic details about your personality, you can help potential matches get to know the real you. This small shift can make a big difference in finding a connection worth deleting the app for.”
