TransActual will host an event to help the trans community voice their concerns about current policies to UK politicians. Meet Us, Hear Us will take place on 13 November, the first day of Trans Awareness Week.
During the course of the event, TransActual will head to Parliament to talk to MPs. They have encouraged members of the trans community to do so too, by arranging a meeting with their MP on 13 November. Those heading to Parliament should let TransActual know via this form.
This event has been set up to tackle the policies that deeply affect the trans community but are often passed or altered without the community being consulted.
The organisation will also be helping members of the trans community meet their MP, deliver workshops to empower trans people during those meetings and provide information on how to arrange a meeting with an MP and other elected representatives.
Director of TransActual, jane fae, said: “This event has one simple aim. That is to make sure every elected representative has the chance to meet a trans person and hear about the issues that impact us day in, day out.”
TransActual has also arranged a drop in for MPs where they will be answering questions, and handing out free copies of Transitions: The Unheard Stories, by jane fae.
jane concluded: “It is past time that MP’s began to hear us!”
