Don’t miss the final London performances of Nan, Me & Barbara Pravi, an award-winning solo show by Hannah Maxwell, coming to the Omnibus Theatre from 26–30 November. Known for her idiosyncratic storytelling style, Maxwell weaves a heartfelt narrative about family, personal crisis, and an obsession with Eurovision star Barbara Pravi.

Set in the wake of her grandmother’s bereavement, Maxwell returns to the Home Counties to help her nan, Angela. Between household tasks and the quiet of English suburbia, Maxwell escapes into a vivid fantasy centred around Pravi, France’s beloved Eurovision sensation. Here, she imagines herself swept into a world of French ballads, extravagant dances, and playful plots to meet her celebrity crush. The show is part escapist romance, part care narrative, and full of Maxwell’s distinctive humour.

Described by TimeOut as “a masterclass in storytelling,” Nan, Me & Barbara Pravi explores themes of mental health, bereavement, and addiction recovery while maintaining a light-hearted touch. Maxwell brings surprising comedy to these sensitive topics, with playful interactions like mop-dancing routines, Countdown games with the audience, and humorous exchanges with her nan through voiceover. The Scotsman praises the show as “delightful and clever,” while The Stage hails Maxwell’s sharp wit and captivating presence.

With support from Arts Council England and Camden People’s Theatre, this show exemplifies Maxwell’s knack for blending the personal with the theatrical. Directed by Len Gwyn, with choreography by Daniel Hay-Gordon, Nan, Me & Barbara Pravi is an intimate portrait of family, resilience, and Maxwell’s unmistakable love for Eurovision.
