Last week, sapphic dating app HER launched what they’re calling the “most lesbian thing you’ll see this cuffing season”. The U-Haul button is a new feature that allows users to take a quiz to see if they’re ready to move in their matches. To celebrate its launch, the app will also pay for three couples to move in together.

The feature was launched in the United States on Thursday and is expected to come to the UK, Canada and Australia later this year. The quiz is designed to assess the “moving in style” of users and see if it is compatible with their matches. The feature has been launched to make cuffing season more aligned with the women-driven experience the app strives for.
In a survey conducted by HER, sapphic couples were found to move four times faster than straight couples, moving in together at an average of 5.6 months into the relationship. The app wants to embrace this fact of sapphic dating and make u-hauling easier for its users.

“We’ve always known the sapphic urge to merge is real, with community in-jokes about calling a U-Haul to the second date. However, seeing the data behind this trend really showed us that there is a true baseline difference in the pace sapphics move at that we can help support,” said HER’s CEO, Robyn Exton.
“We want our community to know that sapphic relationships are ok to move at the pace that feels right for them; authentic sapphic connections do tend to move faster and we can help our users feel validated and supported in progressing their relationships.”
A HER user, Lisa Perez, said: “Lesbians love hard and it feels so real that HER is getting onboard with this and helping make it easier for us sapphics to love how we do.” She added that she moved in with her girlfriend three months into their relationship, but that felt “restrained”.
