West London Queer Project (WLQP) is set to host their first fundraising event. This is a major milestone in the organisation’s efforts to support the LGBTQIA community and promises to be a night of celebration and unity.

The event, hosted by The Traitors’ Fay Greaves, will take place on 24 October at The Broadcaster in White City and feature several keynote speakers, including LGBTQIA Human Rights Defender, Peter Tatchell, and Juno Dawson. There will also be a comedy drag show and a DJ in what is sure to be an incredible evening.

WLQP’s mission is to connect and support the LGBTQIA community in West London. Since it was founded four years ago, the organisation has hosted over 600 inclusive events, many of which have been free to attend, subsidised through funding from groups such as The National Lottery, Sport England and several local councils.

WLQP’s founder Aubrey Crawley said: “This event is about more than just raising £40k, it’s about securing the future of our work, so we can continue to offer life-changing services, create safe spaces, and advocate for real, meaningful change in West London.”

The fundraising event they are now hosting is part of WLQP’s five-year strategy to expand its services into neighbouring boroughs. As a non-profit, the organisation relies on external funding to continue its work. The aim of this fundraiser is to raise £40,000 by the end of 2024. Ideally, half that would be raised at the event, with the rest collected through a crowdfunding campaign

Crawley said: “Every donation, no matter how small, helps us build a stronger, more inclusive future for everyone.”

Tickets can still be purchased from the WLQP website.
