The South London singer-songwriter rose to fame after Go became popular on TikTok in 2022. With a double platinum single and stunning debut album, Cat Burns is the artist your playlists have been missing. Read on to find out more about her!

She is a fashion lover

On her Instagram and TikTok, you will find many fit checks and loads of fashion content. Her androgynous style is signatured by waistcoats and oversized jeans, all accessorised with gold jewellery.

She is inspired by gospel music

Cat’s discography is a perfect blend of gospel, pop and indie sound. Her song, sleep at night, even has an acapella version with the London Community Choir.

She is neurodivergent

In April 2023, the singer posted on Instagram about being diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. She said the diagnosis meant her “whole life made sense”.

Cat also said: “A lot of black women and women who believe they have ASD are under diagnosed and are often dismissed when brought up to their therapists & psychiatrists etc.” She added that symptoms show up differently in women of colour because of gender and race socialisation, and said research needs to include more Black voices to truly improve. She continues to use her platform to destigmatise being neurodivergent and bring attention to the inequalities Black women face in the healthcare system.

The Lesbian Masterdoc helped her realise she was a lesbian

This pdf has helped many people break free from compulsory heterosexuality, including Cat. After reading it she came out as a loud and proud lesbian. Now, much of her music has sapphic themes and talks about her relationships with women and her own journey of sexuality. She shares her sincere and sensitive lyrics on TikTok, tagged with #wlw, about navigating the world as a lesbian.

She has been nominated for three BRIT Awards

In 2023, Burns’ talent was recognised by one of the most prestigious academies in music. Go was nominated for Song of the Year and she was nominated for both Rising Star and British Pop/RnB act!
