The Future Female Project (FFP) is set to host a screening of 2011 documentary Hit So Hard, about Patty Schemel, on Thursday 3 October in Manchester.
Hit So Hard, directed by P. David Ebersole, is an American documentary following the life and near death experience of Patty Schemel, the drummer of the 1990s alternative rock band, Hole, and a lesbian. The film weaves together footage from the band’s 1994 world tour with contemporary interviews with her family and band mates.
Taking place on 3 October, the screening coincides with the release of Hit So Hard: A Memoir, the book version of the documentary, and is intended to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death. The Nirvana frontman is featured in the film, due to his relationship with Patty’s band mate, Courtney Love.
The screening will take place at the Feel Good Club in Manchester, as part of FFP’s new concept event, PLAY. The event is a film salon and networking opportunity for creative artists and those interested in filmmaking. The aim is to offer a space for underrepresented communities to meet and enjoy cinema.
Entry to the event is set on a pay what you can basis. A raffle will also be held with goods donated by supportive businesses including Forbidden Planet and Piccadilly Records. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the screening will begin at 7:15. After the screening, there will be a mixer with 1990s grunge inspired playlist created by DJ Klitbait.
