Netflix has just dropped the first trailer for the exciting new documentary by Will Ferrell and Harper Steele. Entitled Will & Harper, the film follows the pair of best friends going on a road trip together following Harper’s transition. Despite being friends for three decades, having met on the set of SNL, this road trip creates a space for Will to learn more about Harper as she lives her authentic life.
In what is a brilliant display of allyship, viewers can expect to see Ferrell in a slightly different role than they may be used to. Away from his comedic persona, this film is a heartwarming display of friendship between the pair. It is also a powerful reminder of the importance of telling trans stories, especially for those who have come out later in life.
Having already received a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has been praised in early reviews for its charming nature.
In an interview with Variety, Ferrell said that he had “zero knowledge” about the trans community beforehand, and that he didn’t have anyone personally in his life who was openly trans.
He continued saying: “I think it’s a chance for all of us to ask questions.”
You can watch Will & Harper on Netflix on 27 September.
