Olivia Levine: Unstuck is a bold, precise and accessible exploration of growing up and living with OCD. It’s professional, polished and insightful, and blends humour with vulnerability and heart in a way that is interesting, funny and educational. It’s a show that delves deeply into Olivia’s life, exploring how her compulsions have shaped her relationships and identity.
Olivia’s storytelling is sharp and unflinchingly honest, offering a candid look at the realities of OCD beyond the clichés. Her ability to balance humour with the serious challenges of her disorder makes Unstuck more than just a comedy and really shows off Olivia’s skills. She doesn’t let the audience get too comfortable with the laughs, continually reminding us of the real and ongoing challenges she faces, but she manages to keep the balance right and the audience never feels awkward. This balance gives the show a unique depth, elevating it from a straightforward stand-up routine to a nuanced exploration of mental health.
In the end, Unstuck is a thought-provoking, memorable show that offers much more than just an easy laugh. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in mental health, compelling storytelling, or simply a show that leaves you thinking long after the curtain falls. This was such a surprisingly enjoyable show that I don’t doubt that whatever she does next will be equally exciting.
Olivia Levine: Unstuck is at Just the Tonic at the Mash House until 25 August at 7.30pm.
