From bringing it home for England to being crowned queen of the jungle, there’s nothing Jill Scott MBE can’t do.
So while Jill captured England’s heart and became one of Britain’s most beloved lionesses, who was cheering her on from the sidelines?
Who is Shelly Unitt?
Shelly, sister of former England player Rachel Unitt, has been Jill’s partner for nearly a decade.
The Community Health Officer for whg Housing Association and co-owner of Manchester coffee shop, BOXX2BOXX, writes in her X bio that her passion is “helping people lead happy and healthy lives”.
Born in May 1985, the 39-year-old has two daughters, Hattie and Evie, who she frequently posts about on her Instagram expressing how “proud” she is of their achievements.
Aside from co-running the business, Shelly often posts pictures of her and Jill travelling and attending events and family parties.
Are the couple married or still engaged?
Scott announced their engagement in March 2020 to social media with an Instagram post captioned: “The best coffee so far 💍❤️ @shellyunitt.”
Although it seems the ceremony is yet to take place, Scott told Ok! in October 2023 that a wedding may be on the horizon.
“It’s been so busy that we’re like passing ships at times, but we’re definitely starting to think about what we want to do,” she says. “We’ve been engaged for nearly four years now, but with Covid and lockdown happening, we sort of lost momentum for a while.
“Shelly and I have finally been making some wedding plans and we’re definitely in the swing of things now.”
Shelly and Jill own a coffee shop in Manchester
The pair bought a coffee shop in April 2021 and named it BOXX2BOXX after Jill’s role as a box-to-box midfielder throughout her career.
While in the Jungle, Scott said to her campmates: “When I was with Shelly, for two years I was travelling. She was in Walsall, so some days I was up at 6 am trying to get a train in. I didn’t do it all the time.”
“She started helping out in a coffee shop in lockdown and we decided to get the shop.”
Imagine Jill Scott serving you mocha…
