Did you see last night’s House Of The Dragon (HOTD) finale? If you did tune in to the hotly anticipated Game of Thrones spin-off, you’ll have spotted trans actor and YouTuber Abigail Thorn.

While the abrupt ending has divided the fanbase, something that cannot be criticised about this HBO show is its queer inclusion. Non-binary actor Emma D’Arcy portrays Rhaenyra Targaryen and gay actor Bethany Antonia plays Baela Targaryen. Cue Abigail, who debuted her role as Triarchy Admiral Sharako Lohar last night.

Abigail said in a recent Instagram post that HOTD was the most fun job she’s ever had, calling her character “wonderful”. While Admiral Lohar is portrayed as a cisgender man in George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, HOTD cast Abigail to play the fierce leader as a woman.

Oh, and did I mention she has several wives? Queer fans have been buzzing about this on social media, including the fact she asks Lannister to sleep with them to give her children.

Abigail came out publicly as trans in 2021. The 31-year-old is most well-known for her YouTube channel Philosophy Tube which has over 1.5 million subscribers. She started the channel in 2013 to provide free philosophy lessons after tuition fees increased in England.

After the HOTD finale aired last night, fans have taken to X to congratulate and rave about the star. They’ve called her a “badass”, “icon” and “legend”.

One post even said “It’s the year of Abigail Thorn, which we can only assume is also referencing her role as Ensign Eurus in the Star Wars Disney+ series Acolyte. Other X users were simply excited to see a trans woman on their screens, even saying it gives them hope for the future of LGBTQIA representation

HOTD co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal revealed in a press conference the third season is currently being written and will go into production “earilyish 2025”.
