Former Scottish National Party MP Mhairi Black is set to bring a brand new show called Politics Isn’t For Me to the Edinburgh Fringe.

Standing as an openly lesbian MP, Mhairi Black made history in 2015 when, at the age of 20, she was the youngest MP elected since 1832. Last summer, Black stepped down from her position in Westminster due to its “toxic” environment.

Now, Black is taking a comedy show to the Fringe which is all about her time as an MP, hoping to share her insight and experiences while she was at the forefront of politics.

The show details read: “In 2015, at the age of 20, Mhairi Black became the youngest person ever elected to the House of Commons. Nearly 10 years on, she has announced she will stand down at the next election and looks forward to embracing her dark sense of humour. For £13 you could buy 491 teabags, 43 Freddos, six and a half lottery tickets, or one alcoholic beverage at the Edinburgh Fringe. Even better, for £13 you could buy a ticket to this first-hand, behind-the-scenes, ruthlessly honest look at politics in 21st-century Britain.”

Last year, Black spoke about her unwavering support for the trans community at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Speaking at the In Conversation With… event hosted by journalist Graham Spiers, she said: “Being trans is not something to be feared. It’s just an aspect of a human being, the same way being gay is just an aspect of who I am.”

Mhairi Black’s Politics Isn’t For Me will be at the Gilded Balloon at the Museum between 31 July and 25 August (except 12 and 13 August ) at 1:15 pm each day. Tickets can be bought here
