10 LGBTQIA podcasts you need to listen to

Here are our top picks for your morning commute

Podcasting culture is booming and there’s never been a time before when so many queer-focused podcasts were in circulation at once. Here are some of our favourites that we could talk about for so long it could be made into its own podcast.

podDIVA

Before we shout out our favourite queer podcasts it is only fair that we plug our own, podDIVA. Made in association with the magazine and released fortnightly, podDIVA has it all: interviews, magazine chats, queer joy and the brilliant hosts Rachel Shelley (actor who played Helena Peabody on The L Word) and Roxy Bourdillon (Editor in Chief of DIVA Magazine). Most recently, podDIVA hosted Adele Roberts and her fiancé Kate Holderness for a chat about love, grief and cancer.

Exes And O’s

Shannon Beveridge, YouTube icon and now part-time podcaster, hosts a weekly video podcast straight from her bed. Aptly named Exes And O’s, Beveridge has guested her ex-partner Fletcher on a two-part special as well as an array of her friends and family to talk about love and sex. Some of my favourite episodes have been the interview with her divorced parents and the episode with Jojo Siwa.

Gayotic

Muna might be better known for their music, but they should really consider making a full career out of yapping. The three members decided to create the podcast after being described “as chaotic as they are iconic” and this rings true when you listen to Gayotic. Transporting listeners to what feels like a childhood sleepover with the way they make their guests feel at ease and their giggly chats, there’s never a dry episode on this set.

Aces Space

The Aces are another band who have given into podcast fever. While The Aces often discuss similar themes to Muna with a focus on queer friendships and their love life. They have an extra interesting dynamic as members Cristal and Alisa are also sisters.

Saving Grace

Saving Grace is one of the UK’s most popular podcasts, and she proves that the numbers are there for a reason. Constantly bringing on the hottest celebs, Grace has that star power that you cannot find just anywhere. Grace, who also goes by GK Barry, is a queer woman and has recently spoken on her podcast about acquiring a hot new footballer girlfriend. For our favourite queer moment on the show, check out the most recent episode of Saving Grace which featured Amy and Eva from I Kissed A Girl.

Who Shat On The Floor Of My Wedding

This podcast may be finished now, but we can’t stop thinking about it. The concept of the podcast is exactly what it says on the tin: two wives investigate a crime involving a person defecating on the floor on the night of their wedding. The victims Helen McLaughlin and Karen Whitehouse are joined by Lauren Kilby and guest appearances from forensic experts to solve the shitty crime. If there was an award for originality factor, this podcast would win.

A Bit Fruity

Matt Bernstein, who for years has been an activist online under the username mattxiv, created the platform to explore the issues he is so passionate about in greater detail. Something great about A Bit Fruity is that it platforms diverse members of the LGBTQIA community to discuss the topical issues that affect them.

Staying Up

Originally created to document the lead-up to their wedding, now wives Cammie Scott and Taryn Arnold act as the gay agony aunts to their listeners that we all wish we had while growing up. Cammie Scott made her fame on YouTube while being in a relationship with fellow Youtuber and now also fellow podcaster Shannon Beveridge. Maybe in the future, we might even see an Exes And O’s and Staying Up crossover episode…

Pants

If you enjoyed The L Word we just know you will love this podcast. Ex-L Word actors, best friends and now Pants podcast hosts, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey give their listeners laughs, life updates and lots of friendship love. Beginning in the era of COVID-19 this podcast has stood the test of time and has just hit its fourth anniversary in May and thankfully it doesn’t look like it will be stopping any time soon.

Lesbian Supper Club

Lesbian Supper Club is raw, fabulous, and sexy. Hosts Scarlett and Freya, who are also a couple share, everything from queer culture to feminism and lots of random tangents that would be impossible to contain in a list.
