Where is the cast of D.E.B.S 20 years later?

Let’s see where the faces of this 2004 action/comedy film are two decades on

BY IONE GILDROY

Queer cult classic D.E.B.S was released 20 years ago in 2004 to mixed reviews. The film was relatively misunderstood at the time, but since then has become a favourite in queer communities thanks to its camp comedy, sapphic romance and great one liners (“They’re calling you a hero, when really you’re a slut. A gay slut.”).

The film follows Amy Bradshaw (Sara Foster), who is a student spy in the D.E.B.S. (Discipline, Energy, Beauty, Strength) organisation, as she comes face to face with international supervillain Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster).

But what have the cast of the beloved film been up to in the last two decades?

Sara Foster (Amy Bradshaw)

Our favourite crime fighting bisexual spy Amy was played by Sara Foster, who was just 22 when the film was released. Since then, she has starred in a few films, including 2010 horror film Psych 9. Sara also starred in The CW’s teen drama series 90210, playing Jen Clark, Naomi Clark’s sister. She was in this role from 2009 to 2012.

Sara also launched a fashion brand with her real life sister Erin in 2020, called Favorite Daughter, which Sara says focuses on quality clothes for the girl on the go.

Jordana Brewster (Lucy Diamond)

Amy’s romantic interest and criminal mastermind Lucy Diamond, who regularly leaves trails of diamonds behind her, was played by actor Jordana Brewster. Jordana’s breakthrough came in 2001 when she played Mia Toretto in action film The Fast And The Furious. After the release of D.E.B.S. she reprised this role six times in the franchise’s sequels.

In television, Jordana appeared in Dallas from 2012 to 2014 as primary female lead Elena Ramos. In 2016 she was in mystery series Secrets And Lies and true crime anthology series American Crime Story. She also starred as herself in an episode of Project Runway in 2013.

Jordana has also been a vocal activist in encouraging people to vote. Before the 2022 U.S. election, she partnered with non-profit, non-partisan voter advocacy and ID assistance group VoteRiders to host text-banking and letter-writing events to encourage people to vote, and to connect eligible voters with voter ID assistance.

In June 2016 Jordana was one of 49 celebrities who told the stories of the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting in a video tribute released by the Human Rights Campaign. We’re sure Jordana will continue to use her voice for good and can’t wait to see what she does next.

Meagan Good (Max Brewer)

Squad leader Max Brewer, who becomes jealous of Amy when Amy is promoted to leader, is played by actress and model Meagan Good. Meagan has starred in a long list of films since 2004, notably 2005 comedy drama film Roll Bounce, 2007 dance drama Stomp the Yard and 3008 horror film Saw V. She was also in the superhero films Shazam! (2019) and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023).

Meagan has featured in several TV shows, including as Joanna Locasto in soap opera series Deception. She’s also appeared in many music videos, by artists such as 50 Cent, Will Smith and Isyss, which her sister La’Myia Good was a member of.

Devon Aoki (Dominique)

Promiscuous and occasionally French speaking Dominique was played by actor and supermodel Devon Aoki. Devon hasn’t been up to much since D.E.B.S. was released, as she retired from full-time acting in 2009 to focus on motherhood. She has one son and three daughters with her husband James Bailey.

Devon occasionally does modelling work, and in 2023 appeared on the cover of Japanese Vogue with her daughter Eleanor. In 2023 she featured in a Tommy Hilfiger advert with her family, including all four of her children. Devon was included on the cover of the May 2023 issue of American Vogue.

Jill Ritchie (Janet)

The final member of the D.E.B.S squad was played by Jill Ritchie, who was the only cast member to reprise her original role from the short film version of D.E.B.S, which was released in 2003. Jill has since retired as an actor. Her brother is rapper Kid Rock.

Geoff Stults (Bobby Matthews)

Bobby is Amy’s boyfriend at the beginning of the film and then spends a lot of time trying to track her down. Geoff Stults has had some roles in a few romantic comedies, including Wedding Crashers and In the Mix in 2005, The Break-Up (2006) and She’s Out Of My League (2010).

Most recently Geoff starred opposite Jennifer Garner as Jake in Apple TV’s thriller The Last Thing He Told Me, which aired in 2023. The series was renewed for a second series in March this year.

Jimmi Simpson (Scud)

Scud is Lucy’s best friend and henchman, and he also ends up in a relationship with Janet.

Jimmi is BAFTA, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominated and has played roles across film and television. He was in thriller films Unhinged (2020), White House Down (2013) and Zodiac (2007). In television he’s been in a range of shows, including House of Cards from 2014-15, Psych from 2009-2013, How I Met Your Mother for one episode in 2011, and Westworld 2016 to 2020.

Jimmi also played Philo Farnsworth in The Farnsworth Invention on Broadway, for which he won a Theatre World Award.

Holland Taylor (Ms Petrie)

And of course, Holland Taylor starred as Ms Petrie, the head of D.E.B.S, in the film. Since 2004 Holland has had a range of roles across film and television. From 2004 to 2008 she had a recurring role in another queer cult classic, The L Word. She also lent her voice to animated web series Electric City in 2012, and stars in Apple TV’s The Morning Show.

She has played roles in films including To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020) and Cinderella III (2007). She also starred alongside queer icon Sandra Oh in both feelgood film Quiz Lady (2023) and Netflix’s The Chair (2021). Holland has also starred in a range of theatre productions.
