Did you know that this L Word star is Gwyneth Paltrow’s cousin?

If you know Katherine Moennig, you probably know her best as the lovable roguish player Shane McCutcheon on The L Word, but chances are there is a lot you don’t yet know about her. Kate moved from her hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to New York City at the age of 18 to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
She has starred in film and TV, as well as music videos and theatre productions, narrated audiobooks, and in 2013 tomboy clothing brand Wildfang launched in America and chose Moennig to be their official ambassador. She appeared in a video for them and even designed a pair of boots for the range. She is currently co-hosting the podcast PANTS with her close friend and L Word co-star Leisha Hailey.

Kate is a Capricorn
The L Word star was born on 29 December 1977 which makes her a Capricorn. Capricorn women are known to be loyal and devoted partners who value commitment, security, and stability in relationships. They may take time to open up emotionally, but they are extremely loving and affectionate once they do.
She is Gwyneth Paltrow’s cousin
Her father’s maternal half-sister is actress Blythe Danner, making Kate the first cousin of Gwyneth and Jake Paltrow.
Kate’s first major role was playing a “boy”
She starred in the television series Young Americans and played the part of Jaqueline “Jake” Pratt, a teenage girl who disguises herself as a boy to get the attention of her absent mother. Ian Somerhalder, known for playing Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries, is a fellow student who finds himself confused by his attraction to Jake.
She’s in a music video
You can also find Kate in the music video Is Anyone Home? for Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace which was released in 2009.
She’s married
Kate is married to Brazilian film director and musician Ana Rezende. Ana is the guitarist and keyboardist of the rock band CSS.
She’s a tattoo enthusiast
Kate has several tattoos: the number two (her life number in numerology) on her right ring finger, a small orange square on her left hand, a “cross” on her left wrist (which was previously the letter “K”), a swallow on her right triceps (she got it after having a dream that she had a tattoo of a bird on her right triceps), the quote “audere est facere” (“to dare is to do” in Latin) on her left triceps, what appears to be ivy along her right side, “Mary” (in honour of her mother) on her right inner forearm, and the outline of a violin with an “M” for Moennig inside (which she got the day after her father died, in his honour) on her lower back.
