Showcasing at the Southwark Playhouse this May, this show combines the original Greek poetry with contemporary music and dance
BY ELLA GAUCI
Wendy Beckett’s new play Sappho will see its UK premiere at the Southwark Playhouse this May. Inspired by the infamous queer poet Sappho, this exciting new show blends the original poetry with contemporary music and dance.
Having already toured in Greece, this new production will bring to life the story of one of the greatest sapphic figures in history. It tells the story of Sappho, who has fallen in love with a woman. Her family, however, have other plans for her. What follows is a daring tale about the power of being your true authentic self, regardless of what society tells you to do.
This Pascal Productions’ international hit will be running between 3-25 May this year.
