The LCR Pride Foundation has announced the recipients of the first round of grants from its Community Fund. The Foundation has partnered with Barclays to provide up to £15,000 in grassroots funding over a three-year period.

The inaugural round of the LCR Pride Foundation Community Fund, which began in January, witnessed a remarkable influx of applications from individuals and groups dedicated to dismantling barriers faced by the LGBTQIA community in their daily lives.

The selected initiatives, each receiving grants of up to £1,000, demonstrated a commitment to making tangible differences in the lives of LGBTQIA individuals across the Liverpool City region. The first of these projects was the LGBTQi Domestic Abuse Open Support by Sefton Women’s And Children’s Aid, which aims to aid victims of domestic abuse through dedicated LGBTQIA drop-in clinics in Sefton.

Another noteworthy initiative awarded funding was PROUD To Be Little Movers by Wirral Little Movers, focusing on uniting LGBTQIA families through social activities and fitness classes in Wirral.

The Mersey Rose Inclusion Project, led by the Mersey Rose Recreationals Cricket Club, was also awarded funding to create a cricket club that prioritises inclusion, offering a new space for LGBTQIA individuals interested in playing cricket in St Helens and the wider region.

Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, said: “We are delighted with the number of applications received so far and it has been incredibly inspiring to hear of some of the amazing organisations across the region to improve the lives of LGBTQIA people.”

“As ever it is a difficult task deciding which groups to award funding to as every applicant is deserving, but we are excited to release this initial round of grants and look forward to supporting such promising projects.”

As the LCR Pride Foundation celebrates the success of its initial grant allocation, the organisation is encouraging more community-led initiatives to apply for funding. Applications remain open until 5 pm on Friday 8 March, providing an opportunity for additional projects to contribute to positive change.
