The countdown for this year’s BFI Flare is on! The UK’s longest-running queer film event which will take place on 13 – 24 March at BFI Southbank has just released its full programme. This year’s celebration of film will see a whopping 33 world premieres from the 57 features and 81 shorts on offer.

Alongside the previously announced opening and closing titles of the festival – Amrou Al-Kadhi’s debut feature Layla and Luke Willis’ Lady Like – BFI Flare will be showcasing the likes of Kat Rohrer’s lesbian rom-com What A Feeling and KStew’s highly anticipated film Love Lies Bleeding. Elliot Page will be making a special appearance and talk at the festival to mark the European Premiere of his moving drama Close To You.

Fawzia Mirza’s The Queen Of My Dreams will also be shown at this year’s BFI Flare, as well as Emma Seligman’s hilarious comedy Bottoms. We’re especially excited to see Sacha Polak’s Silver Haze which follows a 23-year-old burns survivor who finds some healing through her first lesbian relationship. You can learn more about this amazing film by ordering a copy of our Feb/March issue.

And that’s not all! This year’s BFI Flare is also hosting a number of exciting talks alongside the big-screen fun. One notable event to keep your eyes out for is a talk with our very own Publisher Linda Riley who will be discussing her new film The Life Of Riley with filmmaker Jacquie Lawrence.
