Queer Britain’s highly anticipated Madame F Art Award is back once again for its third year. Partnering with wine brand Madame F, who has been a supporter of Queer Britain since the beginning, the award aims to celebrate queer creativity. Entries open today (1 February) and will close on Sunday 31 March at midnight.
Previous winners of the Madame F Queer Britain Art Award include Oliver Freeston, Sarah Jane Moon, Sadie Lee and Paul Harfleet.
The Awardās theme this year is Queer Creativity, welcoming any 2D artwork which captures the exciting nature of LGBTQIA art. From illustrations, paintings, drawings and photographs, artists can submit their entries here:Ā queerbritain.org.uk/artaward
The top three pieces of artwork will be awarded cash prizes: £1500 for first, £1000 for second, and £500 for third. There is no entry fee, but donations are always welcomed to support the work of Queer Britain.
Our very own editor-in-chief Roxy Bourdillon will be joining the judging panel alongside the likes of photographer Alia Romagnoli and cartoonist Kate Charlesworth. The UKās first out Muslim drag queen ā Asifa Lahore ā will also be judging the competition.
This yearās theme is inspired by illustrator Justin Kemp who designed the iconic Susy the Frog image featured on Madame Fās wine labels.
The top 10 shortlisted entrants will be contacted in Spring 2024.
DIVA magazine celebrates 30 years in print in 2024. If you like what we do, then get behind LGBTQIA media and keep us going for another generation. Your support is invaluable.
