After its US release, sapphic audiences are absolutely obsessed with the queer icon’s new lesbian drama

The sapphic romance thriller Love Lies Bleeding has been released in the US and people are already raving over the gory love story. Featuring queer icon Kristen Stewart, playing Lou, the film follows a reclusive gym manager who falls hard for a bodybuilder. Their love soon moves to violence as they get pulled into Lou’s criminal family.
TikTok creators have already started creating thirst trap clips including snippets from the trailer. We’re sure more will come in the following months. Everybody get ready to be inundated with KStew on your TikTok For You Page! (Not that any of us are complaining…)
Our screens are also being blessed by Katy O’Brian as a sexy bodybuilder. Best known for her role in the Marvel production Ant-Man, she takes on the role of Jackie in this upcoming A24 production. Written by Rose Glass and fellow filmmaker Weronika Tofilska, the film promises all things love, blood and horror. Sounds like the perfect concoction to us! Glass is well known for her freaky horror pieces such as the 2019 film Saint Maud.
Love Lies Bleeding has brought to life a lot of the queer communities’ fantasies. Who doesn’t want to see Kristen Stewart with a shag cut driving a pick-up truck?
The Hollywood Reporter, David Rooney, described Kristen as “pure magnetism in ultra-violent neo-noir romance”. He goes on to say the film is a “hallucinatory trip down the darkest byways of Americana. It’s too blunt to be as unsettling as Saint Maud but it will leave no one indifferent.”
Love Lies Bleeding is showing at the Sundance Film Festival and is being released in the UK on the 19 April. So unfortunately, we all have some time to wait before we get to see the film in all its glory.
