Let’s raise a pint (alcoholic or not) to London’s last remaining lesbian bar
On the 9 of January, London’s iconic bar shared a post on socials that the bar is hitting double digits this month! As many of us know, having a space specifically built for lesbians by lesbians is exactly what we need, especially with many other gay bars being hit and miss for safety.
She, operated by Ku bar, was the first lesbian bar to hit Old Compton Street. It’s perfect if you’ve just caught some theatre in the West End. She is known for their Wednesday drag Karaoke, hip hop R&B dance hall on Thursdays, as well as their occasional pub quiz on Mondays. The space is funky and fresh looking, with archways and ensures there is always a buzz in their basement bar.
Make sure to join them on Monday 27 January for their big birthday bash, with DJ AAMYKO until 3 am. Also, yet to be announced is their whole week of birthday celebration events which will follow, so keep your eyes peeled on socials! And be sure to check out DIVA’s previous article revealing the “Secret Diary of a Door” at She!
DIVA magazine celebrates 30 years in print in 2024. If you like what we do, then get behind LGBTQIA media and keep us going for another generation. Your support is invaluable.
