Stephanie Allynne has been a firm fixture on the big screen (and TV screen) since she shot into stardom while starring in the 2013 film In A World… She’s a writer, comedian, and actor who you may recognise as Nat from The L Word: Generation Q. She’s been in everything from One Mississippi to Twin Peaks, capturing audience’s hearts everywhere.

Tig Notaro is also a goliath in the comedy scene, known for her deadpan comedy. The Emmy and Grammy-nominated star has always been known to push the boundaries with comedy, and her shows have garnered huge audiences.

We love a good power couple here at DIVA, and this pair certainly meets the criteria. But how did Stephanie and Tig meet?

2012: The pair meet on the set of In a World…

In true Hollywood fashion, Stephanie and Tig properly met on the set of Lake Bell’s comedy thriller In A World… Tig was taking on the role of Cher, while Stephanie was playing Nancy.

However, in a sweet interview with The New Yorker in 2022, the pair revealed that they unofficially met in the waiting room for an audition. Stephanie overheard Tig saying to one of the actors: “Whenever a director comes up to give me a note, I say, ‘Before you give me a note, I just have to tell you, I have no range. But go ahead. What were you going to say?’”

Stephanie thought this was funny, but didn’t go over to introduce herself. It wasn’t until they played love interests in Lake Bell’s film that they properly became acquainted. At the time Stephanie identified as straight, but one day they went to a bar together and ended up kissing.

Confused, Stephanie sent Tig an email the next day saying: “I really like you, I liked kissing you, but I just want you to know I am not gay.”

To which Tig replied: ‘O.K., dyke.’

The rest was history…

January 2015: The pair announce that they are en-gay-ed

In a sweet Facebook post, Tig announced their engagement to the world. “I have been officially engaged for 53 minutes and so far things are going pretty great,” the comedian wrote.

October 2015: The couple tie the knot

In a beautiful intimate ceremony, Stephanie and Tig said “I do” on a beach. For their three-year anniversary, Stephanie shared this beautiful snap with the caption: “If I had a day that I could give you…I’d give to you a day just like today. Three years ago today. Happy anniversary”

2016: Stephanie opens up about when they began dating

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Stephanie revealed the confusion she felt when she first got together with Tig, having identified as straight previously.

“Everything about her felt right. I knew I liked her, I knew I cared about her and that sent me into an identity crisis spiral,” Stephanie revealed. “I felt the need to label myself, was I gay? Was I bi? Was I still straight? Was I ever straight? etc. It took me six months to realise those labels were ridiculous. Once I was able to own my true feelings it was all easy and beautiful. I now don’t believe in the labels.”

June 2016: Stephanie and Tig welcome their twins into the world

The power couple soon welcomed two new members to their family: Finn and Max! Using Stephanie’s eggs, the couple had the twins via surrogate.

2022: The power couple direct their film Am I OK?

If this couple wasn’t impressive enough, in 2022 they directed their first film together: the comedy-drama Am I Ok? Starring Dakota Johnson, Sonoya Mizuno, Jermaine Fowler, Kiersey Clemons (and of course, Tig), the film explores a woman who has to navigate coming out in her 30s.

Feb 2023: Tig shares an adorable snap of their first kiss

More recently, Tig shared a sweet picture of her first kiss with Stephanie which changed everything.

“Valentines Day 10 years ago TODAY was my first kiss with the exquisite @stephanieallynne,” the comedian wrote. “A friend actually caught the moment. And somehow we are married with 1 ant farm, 2 INCREDIBLE little cubs, 3 cats, 4 hours of daily laughter, 5 hospital stays, 6 hours of nightly Pokémon discussions, 7 days a week of baseball/basketball/soccer/swimming/football/hockey/tennis, 8 tooth fairy visits, 9 lbs of kale per meal, a production company and a partridge in a pear tree.”
