The Buccaneers is being renewed for season two

Audiences will get to see sapphic lovers Mabel and Honoria once again

After the nail-biting finale released last week, fans everywhere were left with a whirlpool of questions. What happens to Nan? Will Mabel and Honoria be able to be together at last? Will Jinny be safe? Well, AppleTV+ certainly heard your cries for answers. The Buccaneers will be coming back to our screens once again as the series has been confirmed for renewal. 

Premiering on 8 November, The Buccaneers – based on an Edith Wharton novel of the same name – follows the lives of five unruly American girls who enter polite British society in the 1870s. From culture clashes to love triangles, the period drama captured audiences’ hearts immediately. 

LGBTQIA viewers everywhere quickly fell in love with the show’s sapphic storyline between Mabel and Honoria – played by trans icon Josie Totah and Mia Threapleton. The series delves into the often forgotten or erased history of lesbians in the 19th century – reminding us that queer people have existed forever. The final episode in the series provided us with a tear-jerking coming out, and hope for the future of this couple.
