Roxy Bourdillon, Aisha Shaibu, Arthur Webber and Matthew Hodson discuss what Pride means to them

2022 marks 50 years since the first UK Pride. This month, 5 News commissioned three reports that were pitched, produced, filmed and edited by an all LGBTQI team.
The reports have been insightful and informative, featuring many members of our community. The first focused on LGBTQI asylum seekers and the second highlighted the experiences of people who have undergone transgender conversion “therapy”.
The final report aired last night. Alan Jenkins spoke to DIVA editor-in-chief Roxy Bourdillon, Moonlight Experiences founder Aisha Shaibu, trans activist Arthur Webber and Chief Director of Aidsmap Matthew Hodson. The four shared their thoughts on what Pride has meant to them over the years and what it means now.
In just over a week around 1.5 million people will descend on London to mark #Pride – 50 years after the first parade took place in the UK.

All the reports are now available to watch on YouTube. Pride is a time to remember our ancestors, our queerstory and to imagine our future as a community. Watching these reports is a great way to think about what steps are needed in the fight for a better tomorrow for the generations to come.
