Pride In Liverpool is set to take to the streets this weekend (26-28 July 2019), and this year the event will feature a dedicated safe space for young people (aged under 25) where they can spend the day with friends and family!
LCR Pride FoundationĀ has partnered with the Young Persons Advisory Service (YPAS) in order to provide the Youth Zone ā aĀ welcoming space for the cityās young people āĀ which has been sponsored by the Michael Causer Foundation.
TheĀ FoundationĀ is on a mission to make the Liverpool City Region the most inclusive and LGBTQI friendly region in the UK ā and theĀ Youth Zone comes as a huge leap towards that goal.
Chris Porter from YPAS said: āThese LGBTQ+ young people are the activists and leaders of our future, so we best be nurturing them now!ā
āItās incredibly important that LGBTQI youth feel included in Pride celebrations within their wider community and we are so excited that Liverpool are ensuring that Pride is a positive and memorable experience for everyone!ā
The Youth Zone will be a short distance from the Barclays Stage on Tithebarn Street, and will be open from 12-6pm. There will also be a free BBQ and refreshments provided throughout the day. (YUM)
Trans activist, Charlie Craggs, will have their Nail Transphobia pop-up bar there, so donāt worry about booking in that nail appointment ā Charlieās got you covered. Plus, you can chat to a trans person whilst you get your fresh coat painted (rainbow nails are always recommended) and learn from them too. Lovely.
If that wasnāt enough to convince you, Saara Aalto and Little Boots are set to headline the Barclays Stage, so can be sure to have a great time #daddancing to some Pride tunes when youāre not chilling out at the Youth Zone.
Thereās also plenty of pre-Pride events, Pride āSundaeā activities, film screenings and speeches you wonāt want to miss. Make sure you check out all of the events and the times here so you can plan out your Pride weekend in Liverpool.Ā
Youth Zone is delivered in partnership with YPAS and sponsored by the Michael Causer Foundation.Ā
